York Ebor Festival Free Bets for Day Two at the Knavesmire on August 20th

August 19, 2026
par Emma Harrison
Day Two of the York Ebor Festival brings Ladies’ Day to the Knavesmire this Thursday, with seven races including a Group 1 race and plenty of chances to use free bets from the top bookmakers on the day’s action.

That Group 1 race is the 3:35, the Yorkshire Oaks, which pits fifteen fillies against one another for the £600,000 prize purse. The field is led by Kalpana, but defending champion Minnie Kauk is also in the field, one of seven Ballydoyle horses currently slated to run. With no odds-on favourite, this could be a very open race.

The standout contenders for the Yorkshire Oaks

The big race of the day goes off in the 3:35 slot with some of Europe’s leading fillies competing over a mile and a half, and will see the strongest action at UK betting sites. Kalpana is widely priced at around 5/4, making her the comfortable favourite, but she can expect competition from Minnie Kauk, trained by Aiden O’Brien, who won this race in 2025. Johanna Walsh, who won the Irish Oaks just a month ago, is also in the field and priced in the region of 4/1. Any of these three would not be a major surprise to take the laurels; even if Minnie Hauk has not reached her 2025 form, she clearly has the class to present a strong challenge to Kalpana.
